Morning On The Heath

Morning On The Heath is part of a series of atmospheric landscape paintings that i am currently working on. I regularly swim in the Ladies Ponds on Hampstead Heath.  Every day is beautiful but the mornings where its misty, when the sun causes the water in the ponds, and the dew on the grass to evaporate are truely magical. I wanted to honor these special moments by recreating the mood and feeling of these occasions on canvas.  I used thin layers of paint and employed Dutch pour techniques to reflect the haziness of memory and the fleeting nature of moments.
