Oil on canvas

Once In A Lifetime

SKU: 0051
  • This work is influenced by walking and swimming on Hampstead Heath in London. The light reflecting on the water of the ponds is ever changing.
I wanted to honour these special moments by recreating the mood and feeling of these occasions. I used thin layers of oil paint poured directly onto the canvas and manipulated by blowing and tipping the frame to create puddles, pours and drips. I then work intuitively with the paint effects, building the work in fine layers and gradually teasing out the semi abstracted landscapes. My aim is for these techniques to reflect the haziness of memory and the fleeting nature of moments.
